- Uke reaches out toward you with their left hand
- Intercept their hand with your right hand
- Place your thumb on the back of their hand
- Grip the meaty part of their thumb with your finger tips
- The top of your hand will be facing up
- Twist your hand clockwise to place uke’s hand in a lock
